  • Sale item

This is to whoever will listen, Family Dollar Store in Rotan, Texas has a cashier by the name Cheryl, This past Sunday my daughter came in from out of town and decided to pick up some things at this store. Well there was an item that a sign was posted over it and said 50% off she said the sale had been over a few days but the sign was still up there, another customer said that family dollar should honor it. So she the cashier proceeded to dial the manager's number and supposedly got no answer and she said she couldn't give her the sale price that it was a store policy that she... More...

  • FD Don't Care About Employees At ALL!!!

I worked briefly (4months) at the Family Dollar in Bradford PA, and really liked the job except for one thing, the second assistant manager. Why we even needed 3 managers for a store that employ's 4 people (3 now) is beyond me. She is a tyrant. She was especially ignorant to me, and I finally lost it, and had to leave the store and my position. She wanted to be respected however, didn't want to show anyone the slightest respect. I'm not asking for a buddy nor a best friend, just a respectful working environment. She was belittling to employees and customers alike, rude, and... More...

  • Customer Service in Shallowater, Texas

The staff have no customer service. Just came out of this business. A blonde and brunette with no name tags were too busy looking at sonogram pictures to help me find what I needed. They did not offer to help. The brunette was talking how she had worked at a store on Slide in Lubbock and not gotten any help and told her boss that she would not go back. I have had it with this store. I have had a problem in the past with complaints voiced to district manager and corporate office without response. I have shopped at Family Dollar in Lubbock and found staff very nice and helpful.... More...

  • Bad Assistant Manager!

I shop at your Family Dollar store in Stafford Springs, Ct 06076 and I gotta say. Very dissapointed. I'm a regular customer, and I see alot that goes in there, and lately, I feel that one of your employee's is out-of-control. Everytime I go shopping, she's either outside smoking a cigarette, for 20 minutes at least, or talking on her cell phone outside. I noticed that anytime any of the cashiers need help, or ask her a question, she yells at them, calling them stupid and saying "s**t" and "f**k" a whole bunch of times. I have approached the store manager... More...

  • Worst Store to Shop In

Family Dollar on Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19135. Poor management, cashiers with long, curling six inch fingernails..ugh. Boxes stacked in the aisles while staff wander about the store. Nasty, incompetent manager who is alienating the customers by her snotty attitude, she can often be found in the back stiore room eating potato chips or not answering customers questions. Need to have a shake up there. Most people I have spoken to shop at Dollar Tree and only go into Family Dollar when they have to. More...

  • Do They Care About Customers

Family Dollar in Buena Vista, CO Every time I have been to this location there is no one at the register. I usually go in to pick up one or two items and want to run in and out quickly. However at this location the people working are always in some other area of the store where they can't see the register. It takes twice as long as it should because you either have to wait for someone to see you or go find someone to come ring you up. I understand that there are other things to do in the store but at least one person should be within eye-shot of the register after all nothing else... More...

  • Terrible Management!

I work at Family Dollar in Philadelphia and it is by FAR the WORST job I have ever had!I'm grateful for being able to find some type of work in this economy but it is not worth the headache.Management runs such a tight ship with payroll, with the amount allowed there is only enough payroll to have two people working at a time no matter how much is to be done. You cannot take a break because with only two people there are always customers. You're basically checking out customers and then attempting to open boxes, stock, stack and recover inventory in 3 minute intervals since that's... I currently work at a Family Dollar store and let me tell you. I hate it. I'm assistant manager and I close 5 nights a week, my manager closes their mandatory 2 nights a week and the other assistant manager refuses to close. She refuses to work nights, she refuses to stock, she refuses to unload the truck, she's always yelling at customers which to me is extremly rude and inconsiderate. She goes and takes 10 minutes (literally) to smoke a cigarette about every 30 minutes, all she does is ring and then screams at the store manager when the store manager gives her anything less than... • RACIAL PROFILING/BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE

I've experienced nothing but discrimination from Family Dollar in Landover, MD. They have the message that plays when the store gets too crowded, about the location being monitered and law enforcement on standby. I also had an incident at this location where I was arrested, and the police had to find someone to come and pick up my two kids. So that incident occured and I still chose to shop at Family Dollar. I have to constantly tell my kids to not put their hands in their pocket or anything, because I don't want it to 'look' like we're stealing. But then to have to... More...

  • Everyone treated like a criminal

Today I went to the Family Dollar at 4795 Marlboro Pike, Capitol Heights, MD. It was my first and last time going to this store. The reason is not only are there cameras watching you, there's at least one person walking around watching you. As I was checking out, someone came on the intercom saying everyone is being monitored and conversations recorded. That sounds like PRISON to me! I couldn't wait to leave! PEOPLE PLEASE.....stand up for your rights. You do NOT have to shop at a place that treats you like this. I guarantee, if business slacks up, they will straighten up... More...

Cashiers are always talking out loud on how bad the payroll is, how bad their manager treats them, and always talk bad about other employees who are not there at that shift are. Its discouraging to hear all of this, while you are shopping. Seems all the cashiers working there are very bitter. I never see a manager there during the evening hours. Also they never pay attention when they bag your stuff. I have lost my merchandise a couple of times. I end up at home missing some groceries. When I go and complain, they always say, their is no manger to handle the situation. I've filled out... More...

I went into your store #6277 this morning and was very upset with the way I was treated your cashier and the supervisor decided to hold a conversation while she was ringing me out. She then did not bag my purchases and the bags where right in front of her. The customer in front of me had to reach over to get her bag because she didn't hand her anything. It was the worst customer service Ive ever been subjected to. When I turned to leave I mentioned I was going to complain. Your employees rolled their eyes. More...

The young lady said to me that the door beeped when I exited and it should not have and asked me to return to the store. The clerk reached for my bag and I gave it to her. Family Dollar is NOT a family company!!My husband works 6 days a week which leaves very little time for famiy!! Plus if needs to take time off for a specific reason sometimes it is quite difficult and he is always made to feel guilty. How do they expect people to have a life and take care of their family. They don't even pay enough to their 6 day a week managers so that their wives can stay home to take care of the household. I pray to God everyday to bring my husband a new job! More...

I recently visited a Family Dollar store in Booneville, Ky. I only bought $9.00 and some odd cents worth of merchandise but my debit card was charged over $110.00. I have spoken with the store employees and they have stated that they have no way of telling if I was overcharged or not. I am assuming that their sales had to be over by approximately $100.00 that day. I am inquiring about how I can get my money back. I have seemed to misplace or thrown the receipt away. More...

  • These issues have to be resolved

Your new requirements for managers to work six days a week is ridiculous, everyone who works at our store was much happier with the way it was before. We all worked the hours that were required of us, kept the store looking nice and still had at least two days off every week to do our own things. Now however we always have to work six days a week, coming in on certain days for short shifts that aren't even worth the gasoline prices for the drive. Then there is the fact that with recent store budget cuts, people are now having to pull long shifts where they are the only ones there,... More...

By far the worst place I have ever worked...(I am currently trying to find a better place to work.) Our air conditioning and heating for the building have not worked properly the entire time I have been employed there, which is going on four years. During the winter it's freezing and during the summer it's hot.(Our dress code doesn't make allowances for this kind of stuff, but thank god for our store manager, who said until they fix it she gives us permission to ignore it within reason.) First of all I am glad to be able to share a concern with a store in my community that I use on a consistent basis. Today I purchase one of the larger containers of liquid detergent along with other various items. I was informed afterwards that the buggies had to stay in the store. It upset me because of the volume that I had purchase and the challenge of getting them all to my car without any assistance. I shop at the Family Dollar on 45th st and Australian Avenue in West Palm Beach, Florida. I have been shopping there for about 4 years, never had a complaint or problem because the staff are always very helpful and attentive to their customers. Michelle and Nehime (sp)are usually the cashiers I see most. The products I buy alway were what I wanted and expected. I never had a reason to return anything. One aspect of it is I am asked to leave my bag up front. That is okay for me because the ladies and of course the manager are always attentive. Tom Monahan West Palm Beach, Florida More...

I love shopping at Family Dollar Stores because it saves me so much time, especially since the grocery and OTC drug selections are expanded now. I hope owners pay attention to employees' complaints, since there seems to be a pretty big problem. I have little experience as an employee since I've almost all my working life been self employed. However, I know that an increase of fifty cents an hour in pay for an employee has almost always returned more than that to the bottom line in my business.

The family dollar in Valdosta Ga.just moved into the old rite-aide building. Beautiful building but when you go inside it's a mess. I went in Sunday for the first time and I was just taken by the mess they have merchandise everywhere the floors are filthy and the employee are so unprofessional. They talk about the customers with other customers .This older lady came into family looking for a coke they had for .99cents,but she came to the register with the wrong size the young stood behind the register jus yelling back and forth to her finally after she seen that the other customers didn't think that was nice she finally went to show the lady the coke for .99cent or 1.00.The young man that was waiting on me yelling out "how she gonna come in here and tell us about the prices and we work here all day is she crazy." I was waiting to purchase a $5.00 box of gain detergent but it rang up 6.00 dollars so I told the cashier its suppose to be $5.00 he told a young lady about the situation she said no its $6.00 its probably was in the wrong place I informed her along with 5 other boxes sitting behind it. She stated "I don't know but its $6.00 dollars." The cashier turned to me and said you need to go show me where you get it from now a had knee surgery he seen me hopping around in family dollar but he wanted me to show him . I did and true enough I was right they just had it stacked in the wrong place. When I reached the register I told him he can put that merchandise back because I don't want it. They some guy standing at the register nagging the customers about buying dvds. This family dollars is two blocks from my home but I will drive down Bemiss Road or go way out by the mall where I get better service and feel safe shopping.

the store in st Augustine Florida store number 6762 has gone to shit since you let your asst manager Tina go i here from your employees that she was fired because your district manager Darlene thinks she is the aunt to your young cashier who works there i don't no why you would let a good asst. manager go for a cashier my family friends and i have been going to this store for years at least three times a week and ever time we come in there the store is a mess Tina was always polite the store was clean and your freight was out now the store has gone to hell nothing is ever clean or out on the shelf's i was there on Wednesday and your cashier was waiting out side from 8-10am till the asst manager showed up unlocked the door and put the register drawers in and then left the young cashier there all alone she couldn't do any returns till the dist. manager showed up because the store had no managers scheduled to work the day before thanksgiving i can guess your store lost alot of bushiness i no that my family and friends are done shopping there

An employee at the Elgin, Ok. store was very rude to my daughter. I had just begun shopping, and had quite a list ( three days before Thanksgiving). When I spoke to her about it she had a bad attitude. I asked her name, she told me rudely and asked me if she needed to write it down for me. I left and went across the street to the competitor store. I do not have to tolerate that to buy what I need. I would LOVE to be contacted and have the opportunity to discuss this in greater detail! Also, I went to the website, but found no place to list a complaint.

The family dollar store on Warren & Merriman in westland Michigan is too damn hot. Why do they not have proper air conditioning??I don't see how the employees are forced to work in that heat? I go in there & quickly make my purchase..the heat is unbearable! !! Shame on the upper management for not caring about their employees.

The Family Dollar #5805 located at 9605 Irvington Blvd, Houston TX 77076 workers are very unprofessional, ghetto, and never have more than one line open when there is a line of people leading down the candy aisle. They seem as though they do not care about their jobs or customer service overall. The manager Ms. Terry is allows this kind of harsh service that the customers are treated. There are times when I have walked in and thought that I was at a nightclub because the music is blasting throughout the store. This is because the cashier has her ipod hooked up on the register. The neighborhood is mostly Hispanic so I believe they feel no one really understands what they are saying about the community. It also seems as though they all know each other very well considering all they talk about is partying. The problem is being that they all get along so well they will most likely stick together should they be approached about this horrible customer service they are providing. I really believe that the corporate office should send out a secret shopper especially near the weekend. I'm sure that the corporate office is aware of this poor customer service but has not done anything to resolve these issues.

I work at dollar general and it is the worst company I have ever worked for. I can't wait to find a fulltime job . I have 3 yrs of running retail stores not one person has asked me to be keyholder or manager they keep bringing in people that don't no anything . We get no breaks or you have to run out and smoke for 3 minutes and run back in the labor board should know about that. one girl worked 8 hours and got half hour no other break . District mangers don't care. Sometimes you don't no your schdule til friday night and the work week starts saturday and it does'nt matter how long you've been there people below you get more hours managers pets.no employee discounts , they don't do anything for there employees .I worked at dollar generaL TWICE and when I find another job never again .Beware people, don't work there ever .I'm still there not for long hopefully and they don't pay enough anyways for keyholders or managers, beware of that too.

I have worked for Family Dollar for a year now. I work 40 hours a week because I come in on my days off because people call in or don't show up. I guess the good then for those people Family Dollar is scared to fire people for anything. When I worked for a month or two I had a manager get so tired of the job and the Store Manager so she gave me her numbers and keys and walked out on me. For the last year I have gone to stores that are way out of my way on my days off and even on days I work. I've worked so many doubles it isn't even funny. One time I have even had to work open at one store and had to close another. On the same day. The drive from store to store was over 30 minutes. The "upper bosses" don't care about anything. The only way to get fired from Family Dollar is to steal money, items, or not to show up or call three times in a row back to back. But if you are the person that works hard. Goes in on your days off. Works every day and barely works 40 hours a week. And have been over passed twice for third key or manager spot because you might speak your mind a little bit. You should be looking for another job. They are closing my store at the end of the year and we aren't getting anything for it. Even if they can't find us another store we are getting nothing for it. This is the worst company I have ever worked for in every way. Most of the employees are very rude even to other works. Customers are not any better though. Most of the stores are messy. If you want a discount store go to Big Lots, Dollar Tree, Dollar General, or even the 99 cent Only Store.

I work for Family Dollar in Warren, MI. and I always fake a smile and do what I can to help the customers. But, I understand how many employees don't care about the customers. It's hard to pretend to care about customers--especially the rude ones who tear up the store, steal carts, open packages and have little to no common sense--when Family Dollar cares so little about the employees. We work practically benefit free--we work holidays without holiday pay, we receive no discounts except on specified days they allow us, and the only time we get any type of feedback is when it's about something wrong. There is no motivation, no morale and that is what causes employees to only do the bare minimum required of their jobs.

I work for Family Dollar, asst. mgr. I hate it, they don't care at all about the employees, use them up and throw them out. But, I read a lot of complaints about them on these sites and they aalways say,"wrongful termination."If all of would read our Ass. handbook, page 4.Rev.01/07. It clearly states...an associate or the company may terminate the associate's employment with family dollar at anytime, for any reason, with or without cause. I think it's wrong to be able to do that, but, we sign this thing. Therefore, we agree to play by these rules. The magority of the most common employee complaints are in the handbook, and we agreed to them. My advise is READ THE HANDBOOK !!! don't take the job. they will exercise their rights..Not fair at all, I hate this company. Like I said, I am asst. mgr. I make 8.50 an hour, have been there a long time, have went through 4 store mgrs. countless cashier's and asst.'s. I make less money than anyone there now. I do more, i open, everything, and yet the new people make more than me, and work less. Same crap different day. I am the onlty one left from our original crew. I truly believe the only reason I have survived this long is that I do not complain, I stay off the radar. The only advise I can give you if you want to keep your job is to lay low and work like a dog and smile a lot..good luck!!!Better yet, look for work elsewhere
